Mastering EZ Agent: What It Is, What It Can Do and How to Brief It

October 6, 2026 —— Read time: 7 min

Updated October 2026. This guide now describes EZ Agent as an agent-native recruiting platform. Earlier versions covered the assistant generation of AI recruiting tools, where every recruiting platform, ours included, started.

What is EZ Agent?

EZ Agent is hireEZ's agent-native recruiting platform. Brief it like a teammate; it comes back with options and brings you the decisions that need you.

Instead of moving from page to page, recruiters brief EZ Agent in plain language. It comes back with options, and recruiters make the calls. Teams shape how it works with their own job context, such as intake notes and Ideal Candidate Personas.

Agent-native means the agent is the platform, not an assistant added to one module. EZ Agent sits at the core of the hireEZ system of action, on top of the ATS you already run.

What's new: from assistant to agent-native

The first generation of AI in recruiting added an assistant to existing software. It worked inside one module and followed workflows set up in advance. EZ Agent takes a different approach.

Assistant added to a module Agent-native EZ Agent
Where the agent lives Inside one module or page The agent is the platform
How you ask Within what that page was built to do Say what you want in plain words; EZ Agent understands your intent through the conversation
Workflow Set up in advance by engineers or admins Adapts to each job and its context as work happens
Job context Limited to what was pre-built Intake notes, Ideal Candidate Personas and documents shape how it works
The recruiter's role Navigates pages and does each step Briefs the agent, reviews options, makes the calls

Like the first mobile apps next to websites, the gap starts small. With use, it becomes obvious.

What can EZ Agent do?

EZ Agent works across the recruiting lifecycle. At each stage, it works the task and comes back with options; you decide what happens next.

  • Research the role. EZ Agent reads the req, maps the talent market and builds a sourcing strategy, using salary benchmarks and competitive insights.
  • Source candidates. It sources from 45+ job boards and niche platforms plus your ATS, on a foundation of 1B+ profiles.
  • Rank by fit. It ranks candidates by job fit, with highlighted context from each full profile, so you can see why someone made the list.
  • Engage. It drafts personalized outreach across email, text and InMail, and sequences the follow-ups.
  • Screen. It pre-screens candidates by voice or chat, around the clock, and returns a conversation summary, highlighted insights and a job-fit analysis.
  • Schedule. It coordinates calendars across recruiters, hiring managers and interview panels.
  • Report. It reports on your pipeline and answers questions about your talent market and hiring performance.

How to brief EZ Agent

The 2025 version of this guide was about writing prompts. With an agent-native platform, think of it as briefing a teammate: say what you want, give the context, and decide on what comes back.

  • Say the outcome, not the clicks. "Find five strong maintenance technicians near our Dayton plant" works better than step-by-step instructions.
  • Give it your job context. Share intake notes, the Ideal Candidate Persona and any documents that define the role. That context shapes how EZ Agent works.
  • Separate must-haves from nice-to-haves. Job descriptions often list everything with equal weight. Mark the true requirements, such as a license or location, so they aren't treated like preferences.
  • Ask for options. Ask EZ Agent to come back with choices and its reasoning, then pick.
  • Redirect as you go. If something looks off, say so in the conversation, the way you'd redirect a colleague.
  • You make the calls. EZ Agent doesn't make decisions on your behalf without your approval.

A simple shape for a brief: the outcome you want, plus the role and its context, plus what you want back. For example: "Build a shortlist for the senior payroll analyst req, using the intake notes I've attached, and come back with the top ten and why each made the cut."

Start with the Ideal Candidate Persona. EZ Agent compares candidates against it, so review and tighten it first. If it was generated from a long job description, remove requirements that don't really matter; intake notes, sample candidates or your search filters often make a better starting point. Example briefs to get started

Use these as starting points and adapt them to your roles. Each is a single request; follow up in the same conversation to refine what comes back.

Research and intake

  • "Here are the intake notes for our [job title] req. Build an Ideal Candidate Persona and flag anything that looks like a nice-to-have written as a must-have."
  • "Map the talent market for [job title] in [location 1] and [location 2], and tell me where the qualified pool is deepest."

Sourcing and review

  • "Find candidates with [skill] and experience in [industry], starting with people already in our ATS."
  • "Review the applicants for this req, rank them by fit, and show me why the top ten made the cut."
  • "Find more candidates similar to [candidate name]."

Engagement

  • "Draft a short, personalized outreach sequence for the Best Match candidates across email and text, and show it to me before anything goes out."
  • "Which outreach messages on this project are getting replies, and what should I change?"

Screening and scheduling

  • "Set up voice screens for the candidates I approved, using our standard screening questions."
  • "Coordinate interviews for the candidates I approved with the hiring manager's calendar next week."

Insights and reporting

  • "How large is the qualified talent pool for [requirement], and how should we adjust our strategy for [job title] in [location]?"
  • "Why has our conversion rate [increased or decreased] over the past three months?"

You stay in control, and it works with your stack

  • Delegation, not automation. You brief EZ Agent, it comes back with options, and you decide. It doesn't make decisions on your behalf without your approval.
  • On top of your ATS. hireEZ integrates with 40+ ATS platforms, so your ATS stays your system of record, with no rip-and-replace.
  • Also new: hireEZ MCP. hireEZ MCP, in controlled release, lets approved AI assistants, including Claude and ChatGPT, work with hireEZ under each person's own permissions.
EZ Agent drafts a first-round interview plan with pass and fail criteria for each question, and asks the recruiter to review it before anything is scheduled.

How is EZ Agent different from other AI recruiting agents?

Many recruiting agents were added to existing software and work inside a single module. EZ Agent is agent-native: the agent is the platform, not an assistant added to one module. How do I write a good brief for EZ Agent?

Yes. hireEZ integrates with 40+ ATS platforms, and EZ Agent sources from your ATS as well as 45+ job boards and niche platforms. Your ATS stays your system of record.
